Elythria is an unofficial, for-profit HSR fanzine dedicated to the romantic relationship between Phainon and Mydei across time and space—in the next life and beyond. Our theme will be realised through depictions of Phaidei throughout the times of day, from morning to afternoon to evening.Eros is our digital NSFW companion zine where we will delve into the steamier aspects of Phaidei. The companion zine will be fixed-dynamic (top Phainon × bottom Mydei).

What is a “zine”?

A (fan)zine is a small, fan-published, often-themed compilation of fanart and writing. The theme for Elythria is the enduring romance between Phainon and Mydei, represented by the times of day. In accordance with this theme, canon, canon-divergent, and AU depictions are all welcome.

What are the zine’s specs?

Elythria will be A5, perfect-bound, with fully coloured pages. It will be available both as a physical book (separately and accompanied by physical merchandise) as well as a digital PDF.A digital NSFW companion zine called Eros will also be available.

Due to restrictions on printing and distribution of explicit material in the shipping mod's country, we will not be printing Eros as a physical zine. However, a printable version of the NSFW PDF will be made available for buyers who would like to print their own copy for personal use only.

Will the zine be for profit or charity?
How will contributors be compensated?

This project is for profit. All contributors are guaranteed a copy of the digital zine and physical items are production cost. We aim to provide all contributors with a full bundle free of charge if sales allow. Any profits left over after production and compensation will be split based on contribution amongst the team.

How many contributors will you be accepting?

Our final lineup is subject to change based on results of the interest check and contributor applications, but we are aiming for 25 artists, 6 writers, and 8 merch artists (numbers inclusive of guests and mods) for the SFW zine.

Is there an age requirement to apply?

As the project is for-profit and features a NSFW side zine, all applicants must be over 18 by the date applications close (May 20).

Will the zine ship internationally?

Yes, Elythria will be available to be shipped internationally!
The shipping mod is located in India.

Thank you for your interest in applying to Elythria! Please read the following information carefully before submitting your application.

Guidelines & Expectations

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age before the date applications close (May 20). This cut-off date will not be adjusted.

  • Elythria will not be accepting applicants who:
    - engage in racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic behaviour;
    - engage in harassment of any kind;
    - use generative AI or sell NFTs;
    - have a history of theft, art tracing, or plagiarism.

  • You will be asked to submit a curated portfolio of your best works. Please ensure your portfolio is accessible and easy to navigate.

    A Google Drive folder is strongly preferred, but other portfolio platforms (Carrd, Portfoliobox, a dedicated Tumblr tag) are also welcome. If using Google Drive, please ensure link sharing is set to “Anyone can view.”

  • The pieces in your portfolio should be finished, polished work of the style and quality you intend to use for your contribution to Elythria.

  • Applicants will not be screened based on their ships or preferences outside of the project.

  • All accepted applicants are expected to have a Discord account, communicate openly with the mods, meet deadlines in a timely manner, and adhere to zine policy and rules.

Page Artists

  • You will be asked to submit a portfolio: this should include around 5-15 examples of your best work.

  • At least one portfolio piece must have an illustrated background (not a solid colour or pattern). Rendered, complete illustrations with backgrounds are recommended in general.

  • Sensitive material such as gore, violence, etc. should be warned for appropriately in the provided field in the application form.

  • HSR or Phaidei samples are recommended, but not required!

  • You may apply as multiple roles (page artist, merch artist, writer). Please note that you will only be accepted for one role for the SFW zine.

  • Accepted page artists are expected to create at least 1 page illustration or 1 spread illustration, in full colour.

Merch Artists

  • You will be asked to submit a portfolio: this should include around 5-15 examples of your best work.

  • Merch samples and/or experience designing merch is recommended, but not required. Samples of artwork fitting the items you are interested in creating (e.g. chibi, graphic work, etc.) are highly recommended.

  • If you have physical photos or digital mockups of merch you've designed, feel free to include them to supplement your application.

  • Sensitive material such as gore, violence, etc. should be warned for appropriately in the provided field in the application form.

  • HSR or Phaidei samples are recommended, but not required!

  • You may apply as multiple roles (page artist, merch artist, writer). Please note that you will only be accepted for one role for the SFW zine.

  • Accepted merch artists are expected to design 2-4 pieces of physical merch. Some of these items may be stretch goal items, and may not be produced in the event Elythria does not reach specific sales goals.

Writers

  • You will be asked to submit a portfolio: this should include around 3-5 examples of your best writing.

  • The total combined word count of your portfolio must not surpass 10K. You may split this 10K across your samples however you choose.

  • At least 1 piece in your portfolio must be a complete, standalone, self-contained fic between 2-3K words. Excerpts from longer works for your other samples are welcome.

  • Sensitive material such as gore, violence, etc. should be warned for appropriately in the provided field in the application form.

  • HSR or Phaidei samples are strongly recommended, but not required.

  • You may apply as multiple roles (page artist, merch artist, writer). Please note that you will only be accepted for one role for the SFW zine.

  • Accepted writers are expected to write a standalone fic of 2-2.5K words featuring Phainon and Mydei.

Eros — NSFW Companion Zine

Eros will explore the ~steamier~ aspects of Phaidei. Works created for Eros must be top Phainon × bottom Mydei only.

  • You will be asked to submit a portfolio: this should include around 5-15 of your best illustrations or 3-5 pieces of your best writing.

  • At least 1 sample must be NSFW. If applying solely for Eros, a portfolio containing primarily NSFW pieces is recommended.

  • For writers, the total combined word count of your portfolio must not surpass 10K.

  • If applying for both SFW and NSFW, you may be accepted for both Elythria and Eros. Please indicate in the provided field on the form if you only prefer one assignment.

  • Accepted NSFW page artists are expected to create at least 1 NSFW page illustration or 1 NSFW spread illustration, in full colour.

  • Accepted NSFW writers are expected to create 1 NSFW fic from 2-4K words.
